But this community did what Shelton does best, they embraced us as family and offered constant support that new naïve business owners with big dreams needed to keep our doors open. We started small, a tiny take out joint in a hidden alley. As Tom says, roots grew from our feet and we knew we were never leaving. In 2007, encouraged by a huge support system of new friends and colleagues, we opened Smoking Mo's. At first we knew nobody here, but within only a few short months Shelton began to feel more like home than any other place we had ever lived. We had no idea what to expect, but the Pacific Northwest called to us, and with the hopes of one day owning our own BBQ restaurant, off we went. In 2020 we added another smoker to the line up, Mrs. Since 2007 we have lovingly crafted Brisket, Pulled Pork, Ribs, and Chicken in our smoker affectionately named Lucille. We are now extremely excited to announce our move to our new location at 233 South First St. After 3 years downtown we enjoyed a brief stay at Alderbrook Golf Course in Union, followed by our return to town in the State Bank of Shelton building in 2012. Since then, this restaurant experiment has been on quite the journey. After moving to Washington from South Carolina in 2006, we opened a small take-out only BBQ shop on November 7, 2007.
